Upstate’s Colleges Against Cancer chapter will pull an all-nighter this Saturday, April 6, during the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University.
The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. Saturday and continues to 6 a.m. Sunday. Almost 2,000 participants on more than 200 teams will take turns walking laps inside the dome.
In addition to the traditional Survivors Lap, Luminaria Ceremony and Fight Back Ceremony, the Relay this year features a Health Professionals Lap to honor health care providers – and future health care professionals from Upstate.
This is the fourth year Upstate has taken part in the Relay. As of April 3, Upstate’s three teams had raised more than $1,900. (Want to donate? Information is below).
When they’re not walking, Upstate students and employees will staff a table with interactive and educational displays about cancer prevention and treatment.
The Relay also features live music, refreshments, contests and giveaways. Syracuse University’s NCAA Final Four men’s basketball tournament game will be shown on TV screens.
